My third month - October 2010

I ended September and began October with my two month doctor's visit. I was 24 inches long (85th percentile) and 12 lbs, 8 oz (50th percentile), and I got my first shots. My mama and daddy are spreading out my shots so I don't have to get stuck all at once so we are trying out the Dr. Sears alternative vaccination schedule. My mama said I was a rock star and really didn't cry for either appointment!...plus I got a couple of super cool camouflage band-aids!

The first Saturday of October, my mama and daddy took me to the Dallas Arboretum to take pictures. My mama made me sit on some lumpy, uncomfortable, big orange balls (she called them pumpkins) and tried to make me smile while my daddy took my picture. My mama calls my daddy her own "Ansel Adam"...not sure who that guy is, but I'm sure he's not as cool as my dad.

There were lots of other children there that were my age, and they were having to wear special clothes and smile and pose for the camera, too! Whew! At one point, I fell asleep and my mama put me on top of a hay bale to snap a few shots. She said that after a couple of minutes, I was surrounded by the Paparazzi!

I had a good time, but it's hard being so popular!

Monday, October 4 was my mama's first day to teach in her new school after her maternity leave....it was also my first day to go to school, too! (I actually only go to the church nursery because I am too young to go to real school yet...duh!) Miss Ernestine, Miss Valana, and Miss Theresa love to hold me and talk to me and tell my mama that I am one of the sweetest, smartest babies they have ever seen! I love them too! They also tell my mama that I am growing up so quickly that I must be making room for my new brother or sister very soon. My mama then tells me that those sweet, sweet ladies, though they have taken care of many children over the years and are fabulous at what they do, that they are most certainly mistaken this time, and that I am the only one for her...for now. :)

Later that week, my Mamie and Papa Daddy came into town because my daddy's office hosted a Sip 'N See for me. I got to see all of my daddy's office mates while they sipped on cocktails and ate hors d'oeurves (fancy word for a baby vocabulary, huh?!:)).

It was very nice, and I got some really fun gifts that I like to play with. One really cool one is a Baby Einstein exersaucer that I love! It is really for 4m+ aged kiddos, but I couldn't wait. I love to bang the piano and talk to the birds and the lion puppet!

My Mamie and Papa Daddy went with my mama and daddy to the Arboretum again. We took more pictures in the pumpkins (there were 40,000 pumpkins there!), and we had a picnic in the pecan grove. It was a beautiful day, and I got to watch a fuzzy caterpillar keep crawling on my Mamie.

My mama and daddy dragged me around for all of the photos....sigh!

And they posed me a lot!

And, of course, I eventually got tired of all of the photos...again.

The next weekend, I went to my first Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure event. My mama and daddy tell me it's a pretty great cause, and how can I argue with that?...I'm totally a boob guy! I pretty much "slept for the cure" for the first half of the 5K walk, but then my daddy carried me in the Bjorn for the last half. It was a beautiful morning, and I got to see lots of pretty women wearing pink...one of my mama's favorite colors!

The last weekend in October was two of my new friends' birthdays. They are both one year old now! I went to both of their birthday parties and had a lot of fun! Happy birthday Chase and Grace!

Sunday, October 31 was Halloween! Whoa!...I saw a lot of funny looking things. There were witches and animals and bugs and scary men and cowboys. Plus, there was a lot of candy! My mama and daddy tell me that I will like that candy stuff some day. I was dressed like an alligator (even though people kept calling me a dinosaur or a frog), and we went to a Halloween party for the neighborhood kiddos. Then we came home, handed out candy, and I fell asleep.

Also, this month, in addition to holding my head up on my own, I really started smiling at everyone and everything, and I sometimes get tickled and turn my head away. I like to flirt a lot! I talk a lot...mostly ah and ah-goo sounds, but at the end of the month I started loving the sound of my own voice and could entertain myself with squeals and giggles. I can lie on my stomach and hold my head up for quite a while and I love to stand up if you will hold me steady. I blow bubbles and am just beginning to try to grab and hold anything I can get my hands on.

I like to touch and feel different textures (leather, fabric, toys, Hayley, skin, my daddy's car's shifter, etc.). My dad also gave me my first driving lesson...15 years and 9 months to go!

I also LOVE, LOVE, LOVE putting my hands, fist, and fingers in my mouth! Does that mean my teeth are making their way to the surface??

It was a great first October!
