My third month - October 2010

I ended September and began October with my two month doctor's visit. I was 24 inches long (85th percentile) and 12 lbs, 8 oz (50th percentile), and I got my first shots. My mama and daddy are spreading out my shots so I don't have to get stuck all at once so we are trying out the Dr. Sears alternative vaccination schedule. My mama said I was a rock star and really didn't cry for either appointment!...plus I got a couple of super cool camouflage band-aids!

The first Saturday of October, my mama and daddy took me to the Dallas Arboretum to take pictures. My mama made me sit on some lumpy, uncomfortable, big orange balls (she called them pumpkins) and tried to make me smile while my daddy took my picture. My mama calls my daddy her own "Ansel Adam"...not sure who that guy is, but I'm sure he's not as cool as my dad.

There were lots of other children there that were my age, and they were having to wear special clothes and smile and pose for the camera, too! Whew! At one point, I fell asleep and my mama put me on top of a hay bale to snap a few shots. She said that after a couple of minutes, I was surrounded by the Paparazzi!

I had a good time, but it's hard being so popular!

Monday, October 4 was my mama's first day to teach in her new school after her maternity leave....it was also my first day to go to school, too! (I actually only go to the church nursery because I am too young to go to real school yet...duh!) Miss Ernestine, Miss Valana, and Miss Theresa love to hold me and talk to me and tell my mama that I am one of the sweetest, smartest babies they have ever seen! I love them too! They also tell my mama that I am growing up so quickly that I must be making room for my new brother or sister very soon. My mama then tells me that those sweet, sweet ladies, though they have taken care of many children over the years and are fabulous at what they do, that they are most certainly mistaken this time, and that I am the only one for her...for now. :)

Later that week, my Mamie and Papa Daddy came into town because my daddy's office hosted a Sip 'N See for me. I got to see all of my daddy's office mates while they sipped on cocktails and ate hors d'oeurves (fancy word for a baby vocabulary, huh?!:)).

It was very nice, and I got some really fun gifts that I like to play with. One really cool one is a Baby Einstein exersaucer that I love! It is really for 4m+ aged kiddos, but I couldn't wait. I love to bang the piano and talk to the birds and the lion puppet!

My Mamie and Papa Daddy went with my mama and daddy to the Arboretum again. We took more pictures in the pumpkins (there were 40,000 pumpkins there!), and we had a picnic in the pecan grove. It was a beautiful day, and I got to watch a fuzzy caterpillar keep crawling on my Mamie.

My mama and daddy dragged me around for all of the photos....sigh!

And they posed me a lot!

And, of course, I eventually got tired of all of the photos...again.

The next weekend, I went to my first Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure event. My mama and daddy tell me it's a pretty great cause, and how can I argue with that?...I'm totally a boob guy! I pretty much "slept for the cure" for the first half of the 5K walk, but then my daddy carried me in the Bjorn for the last half. It was a beautiful morning, and I got to see lots of pretty women wearing pink...one of my mama's favorite colors!

The last weekend in October was two of my new friends' birthdays. They are both one year old now! I went to both of their birthday parties and had a lot of fun! Happy birthday Chase and Grace!

Sunday, October 31 was Halloween! Whoa!...I saw a lot of funny looking things. There were witches and animals and bugs and scary men and cowboys. Plus, there was a lot of candy! My mama and daddy tell me that I will like that candy stuff some day. I was dressed like an alligator (even though people kept calling me a dinosaur or a frog), and we went to a Halloween party for the neighborhood kiddos. Then we came home, handed out candy, and I fell asleep.

Also, this month, in addition to holding my head up on my own, I really started smiling at everyone and everything, and I sometimes get tickled and turn my head away. I like to flirt a lot! I talk a lot...mostly ah and ah-goo sounds, but at the end of the month I started loving the sound of my own voice and could entertain myself with squeals and giggles. I can lie on my stomach and hold my head up for quite a while and I love to stand up if you will hold me steady. I blow bubbles and am just beginning to try to grab and hold anything I can get my hands on.

I like to touch and feel different textures (leather, fabric, toys, Hayley, skin, my daddy's car's shifter, etc.). My dad also gave me my first driving lesson...15 years and 9 months to go!

I also LOVE, LOVE, LOVE putting my hands, fist, and fingers in my mouth! Does that mean my teeth are making their way to the surface??

It was a great first October!

My First Two Months

Hello there! It's me, Anders Bronson! Wow! This new world moves fast! It's already been two months, and in that time I have grown over five inches and gained over five pounds. Here is what I have been up to.

My First Month
In my first month, my mama and daddy say they were just trying to stay above water. (I'm not really sure what that means since they weren't ever in water.) Thank goodness for my Mamie...that's my mom's mama. She stayed with me for two weeks while my mama was recovering from her c-section, and my daddy went back to work. She rocked me and changed me and soothed me while my mom kept blabbing about some"schedule business." Schedule smedule....I just wanted to be cleaned and fed! During my second week home, our air conditioner went out, and I stayed my first night in a hotel. It was exciting, but I definitely like my bassinet at home better. Also, my Aunt 'Manda...that's my daddy's sister...came to see me. She lives in Denver where my mama and daddy tell me there are big tall things called mountains. I hope to see them someday. My Papa Daddy...that's my mama's daddy...was in the hospital during August so I got to go on my first airplane ride to Mississippi at three weeks! It was quite an adventure, and I got to meet some of my cousins and see my Uncle Jon Michael...that's my mama's brother. Now my Papa Daddy is doing much better so that makes me happy. Boo boos are no fun. My daddy's mama...I call her Grandma Bronson for now because she is still deciding on her special grandma name...came out to keep me during my fourth week while my mama went to her school's work week. We played, and she sang to me and rocked me and loved on me all week. We had a great time! My Grandpa...that's my daddy's daddy...came out a few nights, too and brought Tucker...that's their dog. He seemed to like me pretty well. I can't wait to be old enough to grab his fluffy hair! At the end of the week I went to stay at my grandparents's house in Fort Worth. I saw ducks and sat on the dock, and we went out to dinner at Joe T. Garcia's. It's a favorite Tex Mex restaurant of my family. I also spent the month meeting lots of my mama and daddy's friends. They tell me that even though I am not related to these friends that they will fondly be called my aunts and uncles. I'm cool with that. At the end of August I went to see my pediatrician to check my weight. I was 9 lbs, 0 oz...growing tons! I also discovered the mobile on my swing this month and found it completely fascinating to watch these dangling animals spin around and around. It usually puts me to sleep. My Second Month In September, I took my first long road trip over Labor Day weekend. My mama and daddy tell me that I will understand what that holiday means when I am older and have a job. What's a job? We drove to Mississippi. It took quite a while because we had to stop every few hours so I could have my bottle. My parents tell me that I was perfect and slept all the way from Dallas, TX to Batesville, MS, and then I screamed for the last 20 minutes. Clearly I was just tired of being in the car. I went to the Grove where I met many of Mamie's and Papa Daddy's friends. They were nice and told me I had big eyes like my mama but that I looked like my daddy. When we got back to the house, my daddy dressed me in a Nebraska onesie, and I watched my first Husker football game. I met one of my great grandmothers, Gran,...my Mamie's mama...and my great aunt and uncle and some of my cousins. My Gran kept asking my mama why I didn't have any booties on. She also told me that I was the most beautiful baby she had ever seen...after my Mamie that is. I also met another of my great grandmothers, Weedie,...my Papa Daddy's mama. She held me and loved on me a lot and kept telling me that she had had lots of babies when she was younger. On the drive back to Dallas, my mama and daddy showed me the Mississippi cotton fields and took my picture in them. My Grandpa and Grandma Bronson's friends in Fort Worth threw me a baby shower. It was fun to meet them. My mama and daddy call them the Lake Country crew. The ladies held me and told me I was pretty special and cute. My mama tells me that I got some cute clothes and some cool toys and blankets. I have done lots of tummy time and toy time since the shower, and I watch these really smart baby videos...I think my mama calls them Baby Einstein. My parents tell me that I am their little Einstein. My Mamie, Uncle Jon Michael, Aunt 'Manda, and Uncle Ryan all came to town the weekend of September 12 to go with my mama, daddy, Grandpa, and Grandma Bronson to the church so I could be Christened. Some of my mama and daddy's friends came, too. I took two bottle so I would be on my best behaviour...then the pastor put cold water on my head so I cried. But my Aunt 'Manda called me a "BGM" baby (Big Game Moment), and said that I really rose to the occasion. Oh! And my mama and daddy told me that I have these special parents called Godparents. It sounds kind of funny to have two sets of parents, but I thought it was okay when they told me that Uncle Jon Michael was my Godfather and Aunt 'Manda was my Godmother. They're my favorite aunt and uncle! I went to my first SMU tailgate party! SMU is Southern Methodist University, where my daddy went to school, but it is also where my mama and daddy met. This month I also learned to swat at those things that dangle in front of my face when I it in my bouncer seat or in my car seat. I can hit them, but I can't quite grab them. Still, I get pretty excited when I whack one! I also began smiling during the end of September. And no...it wasn't "happy gas" smiling, but I really began to smile at my mama and daddy. At my two month doctor's visit I was 24 inches long (85th percentile) and 12 lbs, 8 oz (50th percentile). My mama and daddy tell me that I eat a lot. :)
